A Serious Man

Synopsis

Larry Gopnik, a mild-mannered physics professor in 1960s Minnesota, finds his meticulously ordered world unraveling. His wife announces she's leaving him for a more "serious" man, his jobless brother implants himself on Larry's couch, and his children seem determined to test every boundary imaginable. As if domestic chaos weren't enough, anonymous letters threaten his career, and ethical dilemmas challenge his deeply ingrained sense of rectitude. Navigating this maelstrom, the protagonist of *A Serious Man* embarks on a desperate, often comedic, search for answers and meaning, turning to rabbis and questioning the very nature of faith and fate as his life spirals into an absurd series of escalating predicaments.
