Synopsis

The heart of a champion, the love of a family, and the brutal grip of history collide in *El jugador de ajedrez* (The Chess Player). Set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1930s Europe, the film follows Spanish chess master Diego Padilla. When he moves to France with his wife Marianne and their daughter, hoping for a fresh start, their new life is abruptly shattered by the encroaching Nazi regime. Diego soon finds himself wrongly accused and imprisoned, forced to fight for survival and the chance to reunite with his loved ones.
