Synopsis

In 1989 East Germany, a devoted son, Alex, faces a monumental challenge when his staunchly socialist mother awakens from a coma. During her eight-month unconsciousness, the world outside her hospital room has been irrevocably altered: the Berlin Wall has fallen, and capitalism is rapidly transforming their beloved German Democratic Republic. Fearing the shock could be fatal for her fragile health, Alex embarks on an elaborate charade to shield her from the new reality. Maintaining the illusion of a socialist utopia becomes increasingly difficult as the vestiges of the old regime crumble, forcing Alex into increasingly desperate and often comedic measures in *Good Bye Lenin!*
