Ondskan

Synopsis

In 1950s Sweden, the dramatic film *Ondskan* introduces Erik, a troubled teenager whose home life is a constant torment under the oppressive hand of his stepfather. When he's sent to a secluded boarding school, Erik initially views it as an escape, a chance for a fresh start away from his abusive past. However, this hope quickly dissipates as he uncovers the school's dark underbelly—a brutal hierarchy where older students rule with an iron fist, perpetrating a relentless campaign of intimidation and violence against their younger peers. The faculty, far from offering protection, seem complicit, caught in their own web of fear and control. Erik soon realizes he's traded one prison for another, and survival demands he confronts this system of systemic cruelty, making choices that will define his very existence.
