Sommersby

Synopsis

The rural calm of Civil War-era Tennessee is disrupted when Jack Sommersby, presumed dead, returns to his farm and his wife, Laurel. Played by Richard Gere and Jodie Foster, their reunion is anything but straightforward. Laurel, having mourned and moved on, finds herself face-to-face with a man who, while bearing her husband's likeness, possesses an unfamiliar kindness and intellect. This new Sommersby wins over not only his family but the entire struggling community, yet a lingering question remains: Is this transformation genuine, or has an imposter skillfully stepped into Jack's life?
